Automatic Tracer Gas Monitor

Lagus Applied Technology, Inc. is actively engaged in the development and use of tracer gas technology for a wide variety of measurement requirements. Consequently accessories, supplies and applications kits have been developed for use by purchasers of the AUTOTRAC®.

Internal 8-Port Automatic Sampling Module
This accessory replaces the rear sample port of the AUTOTRAC® with an eight port sample manifold. With this accessory, AUTOTRAC® can sample from up to nine (9) locations. The required electronic and software interface to control the sampling is installed. AUTOTRAC® can control the sampling either randomly or sequentially. Using 1/8” OD sample tubing, AUTOTRAC® can automatically collect and analyze samples from locations up to 300 feet away using a nominal pump-on time of 40 seconds. Sampling from longer distances or through larger tubing can be accomplished using an auxiliary sample pump or setting a longer pump-on time (user selectable). This option must be installed at the factory.

Duct/Stack Flowrate Measurement Accessory Kit
This accessory consists of an electronic mass flow meter and a metering valve with Vernier handle. Available full scale air flow readings range from 10 cc/min to 40 liter/min.

The electronic flowmeter is powered by an independent AC power module supplied with the accessory. The flowmeter incorporates a 3 1/2 digit LCD display. Each flowmeter is calibrated to within 2% of reading over a range of 20% to 100% of full scale. (For some ranges 1% FS is available at extra cost). Calibration data are supplied with the unit. Repeatability is 0.5% of full scale. Operational range is 0 to 50 C and 150 psi gauge (10 kg/cm2).

An electronics interface and appropriate software are installed in AUTOTRAC® to automatically read the electronic flowmeter and correct the reading for injection gas composition. The flowmeter is normally supplied with 1/4” tube fittings. Other fitting sizes can be supplied on request, including metric sizes.

  • 210 Sampling Syringes - 60 cc with needles and caps
Note to international clients: This kit is intended for use by North American clients. Some authorized LAT distributors provide versions of this kit for their service area. Using US approved gas containers and regulators may be illegal in your country and incompatible with locally available gas cylinders. Consult LAT or the distributor before ordering this kit.

SF6 Injection Accessory
This accessory consists of a lecture bottle of pure SF6 and a lecture bottle regulator equipped with a syringe gas fill fitting.

Note to international clients: This accessory is intended for use by North American clients. Some authorized LAT distributors provide versions of this kit for their service area. Using US approved gas containers and regulators may be illegal in your country and incompatible with locally available gas cylinders. Consult LAT or the distributor before ordering this kit.

Automated Two Point Calibration Option
This option consists of a second internally installed calibration cylinder (2% accuracy) and internal software to perform a two point automated field calibration of AUTOTRAC®. This option is designed for field applications that require extreme precision over a limited range of concentrations. It provides an accuracy 2% over a range of 10:1. A major application lies in precise field flowrate measurements in ducts, pipes and stacks.

Five Injector Module
With this module, AUTOTRAC® can be programmed to automatically perform multi-zone ventilation system studies or simultaneous duct and stack flow measurements while recording wind speed, wind direction, exterior and interior temperature.

The module consists of five electronic mass flow meters, five injection control solenoid valves, five manual flow control metering valves and electronic interface for sensing five status events and 26 analog channels. These channels can be used to log pressure temperature, wind speed, etc. inputs from either LAT supplied or user supplied signals.

Each of the five injection channels incorporates separate supply and outlet connectors (1/4” OD tubing). The five event status indicators are designed to be used with flow indicator switches to insure that AUTOTRAC® injects tracer gas only when the HVAC systems are operating or when there is flow in the stacks or ducts. This feature can be disabled by the user.

Individual flow meters can be ordered with a full scale air flow reading that ranges from 10 cc/min to 40 liter/min. Note that the five flow meters need not possess the same full scale range. Flowmeter readings are accurate to 2 % FS. (For some ranges 1% FS is available at extra cost) Calibration data are supplied with the unit. Repeatability is 0.5% of full scale. Operational range is 0 to 50 C and 150 psi gauge (10 kg/cm2). An electronic interface and appropriate software are installed in AUTOTRAC® to automatically read each flow meter and to correct the reading for injection gas composition.

The injection control solenoid valves are bubble tight (leakage of less than 1x10-5 cc/sec helium) two way normally closed valves. The maximum inlet pressure is 50 psig with a Cv factor of 0.03. (Limited other pressure and Cv values can be supplied).

The 8-port Automatic Sampling Module should be installed to fully utilize this accessory.

Analog Interface/Injection Controller
This accessory is an internal interface for four analog data channels. With this accessory AUTOTRAC® automatically reads four analog inputs in the range of 0 to 10 volts with a precision and accuracy of 2 millivolts. Imbedded software is included in AUTOTRAC® to convert the input signal to temperature, wind speed and direction and injection gas flow for LAT supplied sensors. This accessory includes the injection control interface for controlling one to five injection gas solenoid valves.

Flow Measurement Software Upgrade
This software package allows the use of customer owned flow monitoring equipment in conjunction with the AUTOTRAC® calculational capability to measure duct flowrates using the constant flow tracer injection method.

Injection Stingers
This accessory consists of two pair of injection stingers for duct flowrate (specify duct size), for in-field fume hood tests, or for ASHRAE/DIN fume hood injector tests.

Sampling Pump
Diaphragm pump for use in sampling tracer gas concentrations from ducts and other inaccessible locations.

Injection Control Interface
This accessory consist of an injection control solenoid valve with an electronic interface and appropriate software for controlling the injection gas delivery using the AUTOTRAC®. It is designed for use with the flow rate accessory to automatically control the injection of tracer gas.

The solenoid valve is a bubble tight (leakage of less than 1 x 10-5 cc/sec of helium) two way normally closed valve. It is usually supplied with 1/4” tube fittings. Other fitting types can be provided. Maximum inlet pressure is 50 psig with a Cv factor of 0.03. (Limited other pressure and Cv values can be supplied).
